Examples from Shrek .

Exaggeration: To enlarge, increase, or represent something beyond normal bounds so that it becomes ridiculous and its faults can be seen

Ex: Exaggerating what she can get from the Fairy Godmother to convince her otherwise, away from Shrek.

Incongruity: To present things that are out of place or are absurd in relation to its surroundings

Ex: The animals rescuing Shrek and how they are talking, acting like humans, and helping Shrek escape by setting off bombs and scheming.

Reversal: To present the opposite of the normal order (e.g., the order of events, hierarchical order).

Ex: The medieval era, but making it modern by having their own Starbucks, Burger King, billboards, and seem like Los Angeles.

Parody: To imitate the techniques and/or style of some person, place, or thing

Ex: Scene 14 imitates the Red Carpet, and the Entertainment sitcom with Joan Rivers commenting on outfits. Imitated pepper spray with a pepper grinder.
